Helping Make Telemedicine A Reality

LA Angle is a free new online digital tool, from Sole Supports, that offers fast, cutting-edge diagnostics for your patients, all from the comfort of your computer. It’s designed to be used in tandem with our newly developed telemedicine orthotics, which can be “cast” and prescribed 100% online.

You can use this test to accurately measure the angular difference of the longitudinal arch, from pronation to supination. Research has shown that the longitudinal arch can be effectively used as a predictor of dynamic foot posture. This test can help give you the results you need to best decide what kind of orthotic options are suitable for your patients, in a manner that’s easy for them to understand. When you explain why you recommend they should wear orthotics, the LA Angle Test can help reinforce this argument.

If you’re new to the LA Angle online test, take a look at our Help section first, to learn both how to perform the test, and how to use these results to then create our telemedicine orthotics.

How It
Works

Using the test is relatively simple. First, we ask the patient to mark their foot in four specific places using a magic marker or something similar. Then we ask them to take some photos of their feet, both flat on a surface and raised as high as they can comfortably go. From there, we establish baseline angles using our online test. The entire process only takes moments, and from the photos generated by your patients, we can create a pair of telemedicine orthotics. For detailed features, instructions, or support, check out our help page.

Step 1. First, the patient draws four dots on their foot.

Step 2. Next, they take a photo of their foot flat.

Step 3. Finally, they take a photo of their foot with the heel raised.

Why It
Works

Research has indicated that static measurements of the longitudinal arch, are highly predictive of dynamic foot posture during walking and running. However, measuring your patient's LA Angle isn't just useful as a screening process. We can also use the longitudinal arch angle to assess the efficacy of prescribed foot orthoses, in a daily clinical environment.
